Ive been having some problems with my cars electrical system in the past few days. About 3 days ago my battery went dead. I gave it a charge and it started up fine. But everything else electrical is FUBAR.

My radio no longer turns on. My pop up lights seem to pop up for no apparent reason and I cant get them to close. The slowest setting on my wipers doesnt work. My seat belts dont work 3/4 the time. When I turn the heat blower on my RPM gauge shuts off for about 2 seconds. When I apply the brakes or a turn signal my radar detector resets and goes through its annoying initial start routine beeps. The car still starts up fine every morning though and the engine runs fine. Could this be the alternater or a fuse or something?

The 75 amp alternater fuse and the radio fuse were blown. Hopefully replacing these and properly charging my battery will fix the problems.

replace the fuses, i doubt it will fix the problem, but its worth trying. sounds like you have some sort of shorting going on. i personally would suggest having a professional check it out, it sounds way above most of our heads.

What happens if you charge your battery backwards

Molotov Just as a precautionary measure you need to look at the electrical connections on your alternator. If they come loose they will short and blow the fuse. There's a reason your fuse was blown. Find it. If you hooked the charger up to the alterator then that could blow the fuse but not if you hooked to the battery. Check your battery connection at the alternator to be sure it isn't loose.

I'll shut up now.
