Well i have been driving around for a few weeks with my right turn signal bulb burned out and just got around to replacing it. After i replaced it, my signals were all messed up. Sometimes when i signal both signals would blink, but 100 percent of the time my left signal wont blink when i turn my lights on.

When i have my lights on my left signal stays on while my right one is off. when i signal right my right one blinks. when i signal left, it stays lit.

So far the only thing i have tried to do to fix it is this walk through ( don't know what to call the procedure.) zerothread/280461

The results: my Brights work! yay!( never worked) Also, now when i signal left with my lights off my gauge lights flash with my blinker. when i signal left with my lights on is the same as before.

I don't mind taking my car to a mechanic, i just would like the opportunity to fix the problem myself and am asking for help. what is going on with my car and how do i make it behave?

So everything was fine before you replaced the bulb, except that that one signal wasn't working? If so I'd go back and make sure you used the correct bulb. If the bulb has two filaments (e.g. one for park with one for the turn signal) make sure the pins on the bulb aren't shorting out.

Good luck!

yes, make sure you didnt use the wrong bulb.

My friend who is an idiot, failed to mention that he had changed his bulbs. After that his parking lights were making his brake lights come on and his brake lights were making his parking lights come on.\

We tore the whole car apart folowing all the wiring to make sure it wasnt shorting out somewhere. and about 5 hours later right when we were about to run brand new wiring he told me about changing the bulbs.

I found that he had stuck a single prong bulb into a dual prong socket. Whole time it was like jumping the parking and brak lights when ever you used one or the other.

s*** had both of us trippin out.

I had the same problem after changing one of my headlights. I replaced the alternator, fuses, and three batteries trying to fix the problem. After having the car sit for two years I finally put the car in the shop. If I had read your posts sooner I could have probably saved myself some money.

i have an electrical problem myself, alrighty heres the low down on my car i have a 90 240 with a S13 silvia frontend.and the kid i got it from fubar'd the wiring up something seriouse im having problems like when the cars off the dash lights stay on batt,e-brake,oil,the gauge cluster dont work dome lights dont work an cd player dont work n it kills the batt so i got the smart idea to take off the neg side to the battery to save it from die'n on me.now i figured out the problem drivers side wheel well theres some harness that runs through there n nut nut didnt tuck it very well so the car bein lowerd on 205/55-16s it rubbed that harness so good that its showing bare wire, yes i know its no good but i need to know how to fix it or do i just get a new harness ?

If the insulation is just rubbed off of some of the wires, I would try to get the harness opened up (cut away the tape and plastic that wraps it up) and then wrap the individual bare wires with electrical tape. Get the 3M good stuff... not the cheap stuff from Harbor Freight

Or you could try that "liquid tape" stuff that brushes on and dries... or cut the wires and resolder them and use heat shrink tubing... but the tape is probably the easiest.
