ok this is confusing me so maybe some of you might have ran across this.

i cant pin point what this is comming from but the radio will play till you hit the brakes or turn on the headlights, the interior light will dim when doing either and alot of times it will be bad enough to reset the clock in the truck, so that tells me either the whole electrical system is grounding out or loosing connection somewhere.

every now and then the truck wont start, like battery is dead, then when it does crank over it sounds weak but the battery is good and fully charged.

any ideas?

That is crazy, if it were drawing that much current it should blow a fuse already. Is the alternator really weak? Even then, your battery is charged, so it should turn over without bogging down.

There is a ground connection on my 97, a little up the wire from the negative terminal. It bolts to the fender, and it looks like it is getting corroded and will need attention one of these days. Are your terminals clean?

here is another weird thing. when the truck is running there really isnt a problem. sometimes the radio will cut off when i hit the brakes. there is trailer wiring on the truck and i'm going to check that tomorrow. i'm also gonna check all the grounds.

everything under the hood at the battery looks good. this will take a while to trouble shoot.

Sounds like a bad ground, check the battery negative cable at the battery and at the ground point. My buddy had similar problem and the battery cable at the battery looked good but when we removed it the inside was totally corroded. We replaced it and all was perfect.

i figured it out. went out this morning and there was nothing, so i started poking around the battery, removed the ground made sure it was clean and tight, so i turn on the switch and left it on and started poking around and had a bad connection at the positive terminal that i guess feeds everything inside the truck. see if pic will post

I had the same problem on my 97 hardbody and it ended up being the ground wire. Also the positive cable was corroded and i cut the dumb harness and plugs there by the battery and attached them to a normal lead terminal.
