I have a 1992 240sx se. Its got about 160k in it all driving in/around Atlanta. The problem started a while ago when I had some water leak in by the side view mirror on the driver side (where the door hinge is, I think I had my window down a bit when it rained) . Initially I could not get my radio to work but my hud/digital speedo worked. So I got my radio directly connected to my battery at Best Buy, thinking this would bypass the bad wiring. The radio tech at BB said that I had 3-4volts coming in on the negative side of the radio fuse (driver feet area) when he tested it with a meter. Now, that the radio is connected to my battery, as soon as my radio turns on, when I start my car, my hud/speedo goes off. If I start the car with my radio off my hud/speedo stays on for the duration of the drive, otherwise when I turn on my radio as Im driving my hud/speedo disappears. The hud/speedo does not come back on if I turn my radio off after Ive started my car. I can see that there is some power to my hud as I can see a faint outline of the hud. Also my reading/dome lights do not work. If I try to turn them on, my door open light on my dash lights up. Further, my clock and my power seatbelts do not work unless I have my ignition turned to power on either. Currently I have a left front side marker blown which I will replace soon, dont know if that has anything to do with it. Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

-Lee(btw anyone know of a good collision center for dents and dings or just a mechanic shop in general, around Atlanta? thanks)

you probably got water in your fuse box and it has developed some amount of corrosion. recommend you remone the fuse box and check its conections good. you may have other wiring issues around the fuse box area where the water got to. get in there and check all your wires good.

also check your ground wire behind the left kick panel where the fuse box is.
