i have a s-14 ka24de motor 5-speed a wire that goes to the disrtibutor shorted and melted. I don't know how to take out the wire harness. does anyone know how to take a wire harness completley off so i can find out what shorted? the wire is black and has purple spots on it i have traced the wire and it has melted off the protected coating to where the windsheild wiper pump is at. please someone help me, because i really do not want to take it to a diagnostics place and pay out the butt.

look the crank angle(distribuitor) have four wires:i have a manual for mi s13 1992 and i think is diferent wire color patternsbut, the black wires often use ground, one the black(flat) is body ground the other black (flat) goes to ecm i think is voltaje signal for the ecm (engine control module) the other one black whith white stripe goes to the ecu relay located in relay box in engine bay area.. i recomend check first if is ground or power then follow the wire trough the harness (i know is hard) and look if theres a short to ground or power according to previous inspection... good luck..

okay the computer or ecm that is on the right side in the passenger floor board I took the ecm off and noticed that htere is two blue relays. I notice the realy closest to the engine some of the wire looked melted. I seperated all of them to the point where i couldn't see it anymore. Would that have something to do of why my car won't turn over. and do relays go bad? If so how do you know if they're bad? when i use the test light for the big clip for the wire that go to the distributor only one out of the six spots on that clip light up. Everything works the car wants to turn over, but it doesn't i'm not getting any spark from the disrtibutor. I have already got a new distributor, cap, and rotor. So what should I do now?

that is correct the ecm is located in passenger side behid the kick panel, and the ecm use a relay to get power when you put the key on on/start position, you have to check if there is any power in the distribuitor, one of the wires shoud have the same voltage as the battery when the key is on or start position other wise the distribuitor does not produce any signal for the coil and the consecuence is no spark...

my recomendation is : try to check and fix wheres was the short to ground was and fix it first, then try to replace the relay with one of the same color, the color(check the pin arrangment to)of another non critical system, and try to start it....
