when i accelerate and the stereo is on i can hear a sort of electrical "buzzing" going along with the accelerator. ie if i accelerate the noise gets louder and if i decelerate it gets quieter. when the stereo is off i don't hear the sound. band ground somewhere? any ideas? 1996 SE Auto 165kms

Probably the diodes in the alternator going out....that's the exact symptom.

Def. one of those. As for tracking it down, I'm not sure the best route. I like it though, because you can pretend like it's just your supercharger whining, am I right?

I would first check the grounding wire on your stereo and amps. I'm assuming you put an aftermarket in as that's when a bad grounding usually happens.

If you haven't put in an aftermarket, you could pull out the alt and take it to autozone or somewhere and they'll test it for you for free.

But 9 times out of 10, if you hear background buzzing on your stereo that correlates with your RPM's, it's definitely bad grounding.
