1993 Infiniti Q45 On acceleration....@ 25 mph the radio...starts to cut out. Alternating from left to right speaker.....then again @ 45-60 mph the radio cuts out completely. If I am holding over 60 mph.....the radio will not come back on at all. Once below 60....its on again.

At night....lights on @ Idle weak beams....hit accelerator they brighten. While driving at night....at 45mph...the lights flicker...on accel...it stops.

I have had battery tested...good battery, correct cranking ampsAlternator checked out @ 13.8

I had someone clean the battery posts....clean the contacts on alternator and check the ground.

NO CHANGE.

Any idea what this could be???

Probably a failing alternator as you don't mention if it was ever replaced or maintained.

How are your drive belts and pulleys?

Why don't you run it by T-3 in Smyrna and let them have a look?

The alternator was bought a little over a year ago. I had a diagnostic ran today. They told me 13.8. It was good and not failing. As far as maintenance on the Alternator.....all that has been done: contacts cleaned. I had 3 different places run the diagnostic test on the battery and alternator. All the same result. The belts are new, too. Appearance wise....they look good.

...now that u mention it....end of May...I took my kids to school. Parked her for a few hours then needed to run a few errands. Started it her backed out of the driveway...and upon acceleration...the most horrible squeal came out. I couldn't tell where it was coming from...I parked but in idle...trying to locate the noise. Nothing. I accelerated to 2000 rpm @ idle. No repeat of the noise and has not repeated itself.

What about the battery cable...Someone has told me to switch out the negative cable. Should I try that? Or would that big a big waste of $$.

Smyrna..... is an hour n a half from my house. OUCH. Yes...I live in the sticks!!

OEM or third party partial rebuild using old diodes?

Schedule a trip to Costco or something and go see T-3? If the alternator was not load tested and the ripple current observed, you really don't know how good it is. Many failing alternators put out excess voltage, so that alone is not an indicator of alternator health.
