I just bought a 93 240 and it got here the other day. I am very new to Nissan, and I have been having some strange problems. My brake lights are always on. even when the car is off, the brake lights are still on. To make them go out to save my battery I have to disconect a battery cable. I need to get this fixed and Im not sure where to start. Please let me know what could be going on here. Thanks! -Adam

The brake light switch at the brake pedal. Try disconnecting that switch, and see if that turns the lights off. If it does, adjust your pedal so it's not pushing that switch all the time. Otherwise you've a short somewhere on that switch wiring.

When the pedal is at rest it is pushing the switch, when you mash the pedal the switch closes making the lights come on. There is a hard rubber piece that snaps into a hole. I can't remember if it is on the pedal or the bracket but the switch actuates against it. They crack and fall out and the switch goes into the hole and won't shut off the brake lights.
