I had a new battery put in my 92 240 last night. when the tech was hooking it up he accidently reversed the posts. their tester also showed that my Alternator is on it's way out. now when I turn my car off all the accessories are dead, when I start it up they come on but not right away(until I am driving). no tach, speedo, radio, turn signals, nothing except headlights. I'm going to the dealer on monday to have it diagnosed but I wnated to get some input here too. I know electrical issues are a *****, has anyone else had this happen? if so what was the problem? fusible link?

check all of your fuses.

if he reversed the posts, more than likely, a few fuses are blwon, possibly a major one (probably nearly burned out the acessory fuse or something)

other than that, I dunno...you may have to check for shorts in the system after checking the fuses, but I am decidedly no electrical expert.-chet

Yes, take it back immediately and have them diagnose and fix the problem.

have them check the ecu, if im not mistaken this can also e damaged in this manner, but i could be wrong

what's that a south park reference? I'm at a different computer now, so It doesn't look like I'm on crack. I figure it's at least two or three of my fusible links for my accessories at the minimum. what is also happening is when I touch the brake pedal when in gear and I am moving, the stereo resets like the car was shut off, ebrake light comes, tach drops. weird stuff...
