I have a 93 240sx with a KA. I checked the starter, alternator, battery, cables and my car will not start! I have full power, the lights turn on, radio, etc. If i put the key in the on position (clutch not in) and tap the poles on my starter with a screwdriver it will start up right away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has been a ongoing problem.....help

ok, it has a new starter, alternator, battery, and cables. Now after a month it will not start. No clicking, no cranking, just power to all intrument gauges, lights etc. Tried to start it in neutral, 1st gear, tapping solenoid with hammer, and nothing. I tried to start it by inserting the key in the ignition, to the on position, clutch not ingaged, and tap the poles on the starter with a screwdriver and it starts right up. The key will turn the car off like normal, but will not start up like normal. Im getting very frustrated , any info im missing??

sounds like your clutch switch is dead. Try finding the switch located somewhere on top the clutch pedal and do a resistance test. Other than that i don't know, i would suggest check all of your fuses. Hope this helps man

i had the same problem, i went through two starter/selinoids before the third one actually worked. That includes the stock starter. Anyways, when i replaced it the first time i think i tightened the bolts too tight because after like two day it went out and i had the same problem u have. then i got another and torqued it to like 20lbs and it has been fine ever sense.

ok update time. I purchaed a new interstate battery, tossed my "new" autozone battery, checked all my conections, and it started. its been ok for a couple of days so far. Its holding a charge so far, and starts. I hope this works, other wise its going to be sold. I love my car, i hope this will fix the lingering electrical problem ive been having.

listen this is kind of a common problem to all the s13's out there.

i simply got it fixed just buy bringing it to an auto electric repair shop.[their specialized in that type of stuff] not like any other auto repair shop whichwill tell you you need a new engine harness and stuff. but it'll cost you typically around 400-800

i mean guys stop wasting your time you probably have a short. the problem with mine was the relay, and for some odd reason he had to put in a new ignition system, so i have 2 sets of keys of the car now, and also a new alternator.

let them do the work for you.

look up starter trouble shooting in tutorials. a little late , though. maybe you blew the 75 amp alternator fuse in the relay box by the battery with all your replacing of parts. that would have the same symptom as a dead alternator.

these are used but from reliable seller. cheaper shipping. you can buy one for around 9 plus 3 for shipping.

btw, your original problem was a sticking solenoid and you did not have a power drain before you starting replacing parts at random. your problem now is the alt fuse or a problem with installation of new parts.
