Me and my friends are going to install an electrical oil pressure gauge on his SR. The oil pressure sender we have is size 1/8-27 NPT.

What adaptors and fittings would we need to make if fit on the SR without the oil pressure light going on.

Thanks

You should probably have posted this in the SR section but...if the SR is anything like the KA, the thread pitch for the OE sender is 1/8 BSPT. You may want to verify that with an SR owner.

As to keeping the "dummy light" you can either get a brass or stainless steel "T" fitting and attach your aftermarket gauge to one end of the T and the OE "gauge" to the other end. The bottom part of the T, of course, has to thread in to the block.

You can also get an oil filter adapter plate, which, IMO is a cleaner way of installing the gauge, though more costly. The up-side is that you'll have more ports if you'd want to monitor oil temperature.

People say that I don't really need the OE sensor to keep the dummy light from being on. Is that true?

Yes. If the wire to that sensor isn't plugged in, the light will never go on.

Edit: At least on an ODBI KA engine.
