so I just replaced the head gasket on my ka24de, car starts and idles fine, but the steel braided ground wire that grounds the head to the firewall keeps getting very hot when and only when the engine is running.

I have been using a multimeter to check resistance at different points on the car, and have also replaced alot of relays & the TCM. I disconnected the battery and tested from the hot wire to the chassis. It reads 0 ohms (dead short) for 2 secs then climes to in the 200's all the way into the 1000's until finally reaches a open circuit. (This is with the key out the ignition)

I am sort of lost at this point, and getting frustrated as hell. Does anyone have any suggestions?

uhhh you might have some frayed wires somewhere and some wires are crossing? fuses? ionno... this might be a biggy. might need to check your whole electrical system.

Replace that old ground for sure. What kinda meter are you using.

The meter is a Fluke T5-1000 Multimeter. It more for ac electric then dc. It doesn't read Dc amperage. I am an electrician by trade, and normally troubleshoot auto electric problems easily. I thought it was odd how the resistance slowly got higher from 0 (dead short) to an open circuit, and this is with the battery disconnected. My other car is a s13 coupe, I will check if it does the same thing, but I doubt it will.

So my coupe does not do the same thing, when reading resistance on that it holds 60 ohms with no dead short. So I will be tracking down where this short circuit is happening on my hatch and will keep everyone updated.
