My 01 max is driving me insane. A few weeks ago one of my low beams went out. I still have DRL's and high beams. I changed the bulbs, checked fuses and relays and still nothing. Tonight I lost all interior lighting (i.e. gauges, climate control and stereo.) If I didn't know any better i would swear there was a rat chewing on a harness somewhere.(Don't laugh it happened to a friend of mine's xterra. If anyone has any idea what's going on please let me know. thanks in advance.

Thats a tough one......i'd put the car up and look for chewed wires, it's very possible. Did you check all the underhood fuses also? Thats where the headlight fuses are, and are often overlooked.

There appears to be a recall for the headlight connectors on 2001 models. I would look into that as well.

The recall is not for the maxima, its for the quest. This one is hard to say. The headlight issue, providing you checked ALL fuses, May be the old head lamp switch problem. Although I have not seen that problem surface on any new millinium cars. That may be something worth looking into. The loss of several other compenents may be related. This may be the result of a loose body ground or supplied power to the fuse box. Check the battery connections, including the 2 smaller wires coming off the battery positive terminal. Make sure those are secure in their plugs.

yea it could be the issue with the head lamps. As far as loss of everything else I am leaning toward a power supply issue as I mentioned or a ground issue.
