I've used both a digital multi-meter and test-light between the negative cable and negative battery terminal to try and track down the electrical demon in my car. My battery was having discharge issues since buying the car last year. The battery the car came with finally bit the dust and wouldn't hold a charge any longer...I have a new battery now, but worry about the drain...
Anyways...
Disconnecting the 75A fuse in the engine bay makes the light go out on the test light and the amperage draw reading decrease to normal levels. .010 -.015 Amps. I thought I remembered reading the 75A fuse was for the alternator, so I disconnected the alternator and then re-hooked up the battery and test light. Light still on with the fuse in and alternator disconnected.
I've tried looking at the wiring diagrams to the charging system in the 240 and can't really notice much else that would be wrong with the alternator removed from the system. Should I be looking at the power cables themselves?Any help would be awesome!
