Started my 92 Nissan 240sx(auto, ka24de) and let it run then it died... turned the key off and the car is humming WTF! is all i thought. got out, disconnected battery and left it. next day same thing, let it run for 2 minutes, killed it and humming is back. not i found its comming from the EGI relay so power must be bad.

replaced battery with new one, checked alt 75amp fuse (good) and many other things.

start car, run 2 minutes, turn off still buzzing. i also noticed buzzing from the dash so i pulled her off and found a car alarm from the old owner and well its a mess. but otherwords the 12V connector that you solder wires to is humming aswell. is this why my EGI is humming?

Check out this link and see if it sounds like that.

To me it sounds like your ECU is shorted out, again check this link and see if it helps. Its a rough problem to diagnose..

thank you for replying at least....no its not the ECU the buzzing is from the driver side its a 12v cube with one screw hole and it has 4 prongs coming out of it with wires soldered to it. im pretty sure its an alarm ignition bypass it has the alarm brand on the block.im gonna try and remove it and see what happens then but i still have to remove the top of my dash to get at it.

u guys are very lucky that have garages... my car has to be kept in storage 15minutes out of town because here the city tows your car if its unlicensed and safetied and being without a car, i get few chances for long days to work on it.

is it your egi or egi pump. either way sounds like the alarm has screwed up the ignition wire.

it is the EGI not the pump. now i know that for the alarm a wire has to go from the ignition to the block then back to the ignition, causing a break in the wire, but the car still starts. is it possible that this is causing a bad ground and bleeding off power directly into the ground? thus poor power supply?

SWAP your egi and egi pump relays to make sure the egi relay is not faulty.a bad connection might cause bad power.

egi relay is also called eccs relay. its related to the fuel injectors. you might have an issue with fuel injectors. unplug injectors one by one to see if buzz stops. check the brown fuse links. swap them to see if symptoms change.
