So I'll make it brief. I was driving home from work tonight (in the snow) and decided to stop and put my 95 pathfinder in 4wheel drive. Well it wouldnt go but in the process the heater quit working and the battery symbol popped up on the dash but everything else ran fine and had power. After about half a mile of driving the windows foged up (b/c no defroster) and i had to stop at the nearest gas station. I turned the suv off and it wouldnt start after this. All the electrical items still work except the heater/ or blowing anything for that fact. The battery is only 1 week old and i've had no problems with the starter ever but it dosent even try to turn over. I drove a good mile so i doubt the alternator. Does anyone know of a fuse/relay to check or any good idea on where to start eliminating issues?

Again worked fine, tried 4x4, heater quit, drove for few min, i turned it off and now wont start.

Thanks Brian

i would start right at the battery. r u sure everthing is connected tightly in a clean matter. if u never have had this problem before, i would say a defective battery. not holding its charge or not being charged. check the conections and have it tested

I'll double check in the light tomorrow but the headlights dont even dim when i try to start it, currently all lights and accessories work but no turning over. But thanks for the idea that'll be the first step tomorrow morning. Could it be the solenoid if not the battery?

Took the battery to advance auto parts and the battery passed their tests. Put it back in and everything works except the heater and wont start.

Check all the fuses and relays. I guess this will be your next step since the battery is good. Let us know what happen...goodluck!

take a good look at your positive and negative cables make sure they are in good condition, look for ne green spot(ssign of deteriation), try knocking the starter with a hammer gently

Can get the solenoid to work by jumping it so its getting power (batterys staying around 12v) so the conclusion is the starter. But the weird thing is the heater wont work now and both of the heater fuses are still good is the part i'm not understanding
