So terrible day so far... Blew out some fuses (I think) this morning and this afternoon my window gets stuck down.

I took off the panel to see if anything was moving at all, but couldn't really see anything wrong. This gear (looking at the drivers side door between my sound insulation) turns about 15 degrees either way before stopping and as long as I hold the button down the motor continues to make a noise.

I think it may be a broken motor...but if that was the case I don't know why it would be moving just a little bit.

Any one experienced this before? Or does anyone have any helpful tips to find out what the culprit is?

Thanks in advance...robojew

Alright, ran to wally world and got some new fuses, so now all my electronics work again so that's tight, but didn't fix the window.

I was able to lift the window and push the up button at the same time and it spooled up the wire and holds the window *almost* all the way up, but it doesn't have enough juice to put the window up on its own.

Does that sound like I need a new window motor? or does someone think its something else. I haven't had any problems with it up until today. It has always gone up and down fast and smooth and then bam! this shiz happens.

Any ideas?

It might be the linkage needing some lube or something. I'd try greasing all of that up before replacing the motor.

The problem is the regulator, not the motor. But, depending on the year, you probably will have to buy them both anyway if you go new. Anyway, the rule of thumb is that if the motor still works, but the window is farked, the regulator is the issue. If the window does nothing and the motor makes no noise, then its the motor. Hope that helps, bro.

So where exactly would I find the regulator? I've been looking in the FSM for the last 45 min or so, but can't find any real info on the power windows. I found that sometimes a connection can burn out on the s14s and that you can just solder them back together, but haven't seen anything on the s13. If it makes a difference, my car is a 93 se hatch.

That whole gear assembly is considered the regulator. Not sure if you can get them new anymore. Check with your local parts store or salvage yard. If you still can't find one, let me know...I have one of each side just sitting on a shelf in my garage.

And I think the problem you're talking about with the s14's is an s14 problem only (as far as I know). A connection in the amplifier burns up on those.
