:smoker I am wondering if it is possible to use a small powerful electric blower motor as a sort of tubo. I am very new at engine modification and I need someone to shoot this idea down so I can stop thinking about it. I understand that it has to be in a air tight config and the air has to of course be filtrated.CAn anyone enlighten me.

They cant produce enough air to push into the engine, waste of time.

so it takes a massive amount of airflow to make any difference

Oddly enough i was just thinking about this last night before i went to bed. I remember seeing a pic. somewhere of a person who hooked a leaf blower to their motor. Honestly, if it could be tuned correctly i don't see why it wouldn't work. If a strong enough motor could be found..(to produce 5-8 psi?) I think it would work even better then a turbo or supercharger. I might just look into this when i start my 2nd project car. I am probly missing a huge detail though, because why wouldn't anyone else do this?

uhhh.. think of the sick *** amperage draw.. you know how many alternators you'd go through??? think about it.. turbos do not use electricity, superchargers do not use electricity.

Interesting....

Now. did he mean his Ex girlfriend or his exhaust? Either way it was funny. If it was his g/f he would need a massive intercooler cuz its alot of "hot air." Bwaaaah haahhh.

If you could manage to get a good head work done on the motor so the lower amount of boost needed could be had by an electric fan it might work. I really cant say how much of a current draw a good motor would use though. What about compressed air and a tank? I wonder if that could be used as well? Somehow manufacture an air tank large and light enough to handle a good amount of air that could be replenished by a decent compressor? Sounds crazy but it might be fun to try on Monster Garage.

It won't work at all. Never. All physics and math and reality just says it's dumb.

It will work, but for only a small amount of power. They are sold on ebay, and most of them claim 20 - 35 HP for less than $100. Not a bad deal for a little boost. :icon18

yeah but the EBAY ones were trash, follow my mottos, A) you get what you pay for, and B) EBAY items suck 90% of the time

Yeah, I didn't like the way they looked, and I wouldn't buy one. I figured that they would sell though. I've purchased a lot off of ebay though, and I've never gotten screwed or any less than what I expected. But, it is true, you get what you pay for.:icon18
