I might be new to this site and I dont want everyone to hate me just yet but, I got a good theory for this so called impossible task. Well when using a 12v dc, 900 watt converter with a high power 115v electric blower. Mind you, I am still in the process of designing the damn thing to be as light or if I can lighter than a conventional Turbo or Supercharger but I am pretty sure that having an independant battery+converter+blower would work (not great for weight) but it could work. Im not just a crackpot either I am journeyman electrician and have put in high power industrial centrifugal blowers in a lot of buildings and homes. But my friend just thought we should try. Let me know what you think.

People have put these sorts of things together before. The problem is that you really can't generate enough pressure for long enough to make it worthwhile without adding a huge amount of weight.

Once the battery discharged, what then? If you hook it up to the alternator you're sucking power back from the car anyway.

Honestly, if you've got the tools and know-how, have a blast, but know that the past history of these things is against you.

yeah my friend bought one of these electric superchargers off of ebay for his tC.. being it was only like $60 we tried it out, the gain was minimal, we didnt dyno it before or after, but you really couldn't tell the difference from when we had it on or off. Than again its only 1-2 PSI soo i really wasnt expecting much. If you think you can geneate more PSI tho go for it.

and as for the power draw. as long as you have a decent alt and battery(s) you should be alright.

I did this once on my old 210 with a leaf blower. No lie, it's a goods story when I'm drunk...

The problem is that to produce enough amperage to make the blower produce enough pressure to make a difference, you have to have a huge power converter. I used a 500 amp converter, and it barely had enough power to turn the blower. Even with a 1000 amp converter, its not going to be very powerful. And to go to a higher amperage converter, you have to start measuring the cost between a power converter and a real turbo or supercharger. It simply isn't worth it, but it makes for a great story

I can tell you this however, it works AWESOME when not trying to run it off a car battery (I tried it again with a long extension cord and plugged in). Problem you run into is that you can only go about 100 feet or so LOL.
