On the versa ,any one find that the steering will start to get lighter after so many kms,or does it stay the same,I find mine still a little hard to turn running 36psi in the front tires.let me know what you have found.

how many miles you got? I'm at 38k miles and I don't notice any considerable difference... If your steering is hard, maybe you're low on fluid?

i have only 7000kms,maybe it needs more to get smoother steering.FLUID ,Its electric steering there is no pump is there?.I am not even sure how it all works,But my steering feels kind of stiff even at higher tire pressure,Could it be something is disconnected for the electric and gos back to normal steering,I am sure we have a techy that works on them in here on this forum.

It's electric, there is a gearbox under steering column that does all the work, so unless the "PS" lamp on your dash is on there's no problem at all.

That's not a retarded question.

The last car before the V that I had with electric p/s DID require fluid. not only that, but it required a SPECIAL fluid because standard ATF would have eaten the hoses in the system.

I haven't checked the V specifically, but I can't imagine it's much different... rather than using a belt-driven mechanical pump that leeches power constantly from the engine and has poor performance at low speed, they use an electrically-driven pump that uses energy only in use, and has consistent performance at all speeds.

It's still, ultimately, a hydrauluic system that needs fluid.
