I was contemplating going electric with one of my parts bikes. Seeing something like this gets me pumped about the idea. :woot:

It looks like the big twins had a bit more torque coming out of the corners, but dam don't that thing scream on the back stretch!

Chip Yates and the SWIGZ.com Pro Racing Team made history yesterday, riding what is touted as the most powerful and technically advanced electric superbike to second and third place finishes against gas-powered competitors in the WERA Heavyweight Twins classes yesterday at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

In the WERA Heavyweight Twins Superbike Expert race, Yates and his electric superbike beat the likes of Ducati’s 848 and NCR1000 and dispatched of the Suzuki SV 650 on his way to a third-place finish. The SWIGZ.com team’s results in the WERA Heavyweight Twins Superstock Expert race was even more impressive as Yates captured second place, beating out a Honda 1000 in addition to several more Suzuki SV 650s.

Electric bikes whooping up on v-twins. Give the technology another 10-15yrs and let's see how they do against the in-lines...although the electric whine is a LOT less cool than the scream at >10000rpms.

Once you ride a crotch rocket for a while, you may change your mind. I am much more comfortable feeling on a bike at high speeds than I am a car. The fastest I ever got my s2000 up to was lower 120's however I topped out my R1 at 185 and my 600rr at 157 or 158. I don't know what it is.

True, speed in most cars feel like you are riding "on" the vehicle. Much the same on many standard bikes. Crotch rockets and cars with low enough seat placement make you feel truly "in" the vehicle. the confidence and feedback you feel, the "oneness" is amazing.

Electric bikes visit the drag strip too. This one clicks off high 7s at over 150mph! :ohno:

one set a new record on the Isle of Man with an average speed of I think it was 93mph.

this is AVERAGE speed, not PEAK.
