Electric radiator fan issues

Anybody else ever had issues with electric fans causing interference that screws with the engine? I've got an SR and even if I hook the fans up to a battery sitting on the ground outside the car it still causes it to idle rough and even die sometimes. It must be some sort of EMF screwing with some signal...I think its the CAS, but I've aluminum taped the CAS wiring and it still does it. I'm out of ideas, and don't have a clutch fan and shroud. Anybody else think of anything?

I have a permacool electric fan, and when it kicks on my idle does drop, but I have never had it die because of it. Mine just recently stopped working, and my coolant is boiling in my overflow, so if I come across any answers on my search for help I will relay them.
