So I bought an inexpensive oil press gauge for the initail startup of my SR. I haven't decided what gauges I'll eventually go with but I wanted to make sure the oil press was correct before I drive the car.

From what I can tell the autometer sending unit won't work on the SR because it hits the filter. Also, the thread is NPT not BSPT iirc so I'd need some kind of adapter. Courtesy parts used to sell a fitting but I no longer see it on the site.

Autometer Sending Unit vs Stock

Could I use the stock sending unit on the autometer gauge?

I have the greddy oil filter block adapter but I don't think the sending unit will work on that as well.

No, you can not use a stock sending unit with your aftermarket oil pressure gauge because the stock unit is just a switch. It only gets triggered if the oil pressure is below 8 psi (something like that) and it doesnt actually measure oil pressure all across the board.

Many stores sell BSPT to NPT adapter

nsports, spl, etc

I just bought a J fitting that threaded into the block and then the fitting had the threads I needed to thread in the stock and aftermarket units. The J fitting allows for clearance for the aftermarket sending unit since it faces the unit away from the oil filter.

Happen to have a pic? I think I'll end up getting a fitting for now.

Stay away from brass fittings. They tend to break over time.

Stay with stainless steel pieces.

After doing a little more research I've settled on this for now.

yup thats the same one I have.

Make sure you tighten the two plugs that they send you. I forgot to do that and oil shooting out everywhere... not cool.

So to use that Nissport Fitting..all you need is that fitting then you take out your stock sneding unit thread that one in..Thread your stock unit back on then the Autometer sender just threads right onto that? No other hoses or anything else are need?

I have the electric oil gauge but it's just not hooked up. I really wanna hook it up so this is all I would need? Then just run my wires etc.

Any info helps.

yes you are correct. Thread the stainless steel in the stock oil pressure switch location.

Thread your Autometer sending unit on one of the side ports. Stocker one goes on the top side.
