--> Today I checked several things in my car due to the fact that is not holding any charge..., then I turned to the fuse link box an checked all of them but there was one that had the word "ALT" on it and it looked corrupted/blown the thing is that to my general knowledge fuses are supose to be joint together not separated and this thing had a gap on it...., soooo long story made short could this be WHY IN THE HECK my car keeps killing batteries and not holding charge??? I've been trying pretty much everything i know to fix the problem a yay or nay will make me feel better!!

drive down to your local parts shop and have em test your alternator.

that is the EXACT source of the problem. that alt fuse is 70amps right? same thing happened to me, gave me tons of electrical problems. If your fuse is blow for the alternator then it will definately not charge your battery or work most electrical components right at all.

The only place i've found to get the alternator fuse was the dealer. so call a nissan dealer up, it will solve all your problems. but expect the damn thing to run about $10-$15 bucks for the stupid little fuse.

no need to test alternator is fuse solves the problem...they will just tell you to replace the fuse first once they inspect it.

I know man I saw your thread yesterday and thats why i kinda got courage to write this one... i havent got the chance to go to the dealership but yeah the thing is blown and it killed 1 battery then i checked the relay box and that is the only one that is separated/blown so will replace that... mmm mine is I think 75 amps instead of 70 for some reason??? another thing !! do you have problems with your interior accesories ??? clock, gauges, seatbelt, light??? i checked fuses yesterday i dont know what else to do?1990 SOHC hatch!!!

well with mine, i had every kind of problem lol...guages and seatbelts, ect would not work until i gave my engine a quick rev and then the guages turned on lol. but everything was fixed after i replaced the 70amp fuse, the fuses may be different because of different a alternator used in the sohc is my guess(mines the dohc). but have you replaced that fuse yet? if you still have electrical problems after you replace it, i saw thread that someone replaced a fuse in their interior fuse box that said electronics and it fixed all their problems...but my car doesnt even have a fuse for that spot, so its probably only in some models. but that alternator fuse should solve all those electrical problems your having.

Without this fuse pretty much the only things that work are your engine and headlights. No turn signals; no tail lights or brake lights; no motorized headlight housings; no automatic seatbelts; no gauge cluster; the list goes on.

you know what... I was thinking that they guy that had the car before I did had a lot of crap hooked up to the batery without making any modifications to the electrical system cause he had some pretty thick wires running thru the car...

It is a pretty expensive fuse. Next time try your favorite junk yard. It's pretty much free there.
