Monday night a couple of my buddies and I went to this electric kart track in town. I do a lot of video work so decided to try mounting my massive pro camera to the cart, my buddy mounted his little HDV cam and a helmet cam. Unfortunately mine was the only one that worked because he forgot to charge the batteries on both of his. And then the mount swivel failed and the camera tilted down, no damage was done though so it lives to drive another day!

Here's the 90 seconds that I shot, it looks a lot better when you click the "watch in high quality" link:

That's an awesome idea, too bad there aren't any forum members within a 20mi radius of this place. At least not that I know of.

what location are you close to? maybe we can set up a thread to gauge interest and base a location accordingly.... could be a fun "track day". maybe post it in the regional section?

There are a few indoor cart tracks here in OC. One in Orange and a newer one in Anaheim. Never done it myself, always wanted to. Lets set it up!

It really is a blast. The bonus is that everyone's kart is equal because they're electric. Lots and lots of torque in those little things. Plus if there's a wreck, because someone is a complete half-a-tard, they can slow or stop the entire track at once. I think they can single out karts too.

When you get there you pick a racer name and your stats follow your racer name. The goal is not to pass the other racers but to get the best lap times possible which makes it more demanding on the individual opposed to the group. Yes there are morons where all they wanna do is block you from passing so you you give them a little pit maneuver and you're done with em. The high school kids that work there understand.

I'm down for a NICO meetup, can you find out info on the OC tracks Lars? The ones by me are called MB2 and in Sylmar (118 and 405) and Newbury Park (101 and 23). I think indoor electric is the way to go because regardless of weather we can still race.

I'll start a thread in the regional forum, if I can find it.

Ok, here we go...

The one in Orange is indoor gas powered karts capable of 40mph.

The track in Anaheim is indoor elecrtic karts,

Surprisingly, the one in Orange is much closer to Disneyland. Both are fairly close to freeways, dromo1 - 57 is off the fwy, K1 is off the 91.
