Hi guys, Been doing a little searching. I will be doing the 300zx upgrade, however, I'm currently short on the dustshield+ebrake.

I was thinking, would I be able to use an electric line lock in place of a parking brake? I believe these lock up the front wheels as opposed to the rear - is there a way to set them up for either?

I still want my parking brake for two things: parking on a hill (once in a while) and working on my car (more often). However, for the second part, it would probably be better if I can get it to lock from the rear.

Anyway, if you guys know and if anyone knows where to buy em (they were suppose to be available from jegs & summit, but can't find it).

Thanks!Quoc-Viet

keeping the transmission in gear works fine... and i wouldnt trust a line lock at all, i dont immagine they have 100% efficiency

Chingon posted something about a hydaulic parking brake. Ive never heard of that before, but it might be worth looking into. No idea what it costs (I imagine it aint cheap).

He has a pic is the thread...http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=100334

Thanks for all the replies. I did a little more research along w/ your posts and have a better idea of what to use the lock line for.

Well, it seems to be pretty good for drag racing - not that I'm planning on racing my baby much - but it's nice to have the option, will probably come in handy once I drop the turbo in.

anyway, luckily found another nico member to buy the lines from so I will still have normal ebrake lines w/ the 300zx rear upgrade, HOO HOO!

If they get here by the end of the week, i'll have one crazy weekend. If not, I won't be able to get to it until end of February (YAYYYY for lunar year).

I would go with the Hurst line lock kit...summit racing has em on their website or get it off of ebay

are you guys (w/s13's) struggling to get z's e-brake lines? I ask, because they should be around 35 here in town, and well, there's just a **** load of z's wrecked here. I haven't gotten mine 'cuz I'm cheap, but I'll ask around if ppl need them...

BTW: The hydraulic e-brake run in the neighborhood of 125$ minus the t-hardware.

I found out the hard way leaving it in gear does not work. If the hill is steep enough, your car will roll. A line lock kit might work, but are they fail safe? Like if your battery dies, does it stay locked or does it let go? If you really need the dust shield/ebrake setup I can check my local junkyard and see if they have any left.

Thanks for the offer Bronze . If you read my post a couple posts above, I finally found the ebrake stuff!

:-D

Good times. I may end up getting the line lock later, along w/ an lsd for some straight line goodness, :-D
