It's probably because the people who reported that problem wired up the fans to their ignition switch... whichever fans you get, realize electric fans aren't meant to be on all the time.

I've had mine for about 5 years now (used, too) w/ daily driving & track duty - still working fine *knock on wood*.

You just need a high quality fan controller. I run the DIF one, expensive, but worth it imho (been through several controllers, this one is the best): http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10005-Thermo ... 10337.html

I have the older version of that one.

^^ +1. I run Altima fans with the DiF fan controller no problems.

A buddy of mine removed a clutch fan and installed electric fan on his s13. What happened was his car was idling funny whenever the new fan was on. He also didn't get that much gain from removing the clutch fan, so he went back to the clutch fan. I just want to give you heads up.

I have the DIF Version B controller and Altima fans but I have not installed them yet. Do you guys use the High speed or low speed for the fan? Thanks

I am using two ISIS 12" fans. Cheaper than anything else (besides Altima fans), and new (not Altima fans)

I have mine currently to run all the time. its been running like that for 3 years now, but I will put it on a switch so I can just turn it on and off when needed. Although that switch seems rather nice

I have my fans on a switch. I run them whenever the car is on. However, there have been times that I've forgot to turn them on. Amazingly, I've yet to have an overheating issue without turning the fans on. I'll get a controller someday.

I've run many cars without fans. So long as air is passing over the radiator you're fine.

Those fans are a great price. I can only find Altima fans with over 170,000 miles at my local junk yard and they still charge you about $50 for both.
