so i just did a electric fan swap and im gettin some overheating issues when im at a stop. I used a 14'' crhysler fan from a junkyard, and threw it on after i took off the fan and shroud, so its just bolted flat against the radiator prbably covering half of the radiator. I was waundering if anybody has a similar setup and could give a few pointers to get this swap reliable.

thanks graham

Is it temperature controlled or on all the time? If its on all the time and it overheats, its not adequate, or you have engine problem.

^agreed. My engine started to overheat after a similar install. Turns out my Tstat went bad. My advice along with the forementioned would be to flush your rad. and check the T-stat.

thanks dudes by the way the fan is wired in so its on all the time, but right now i have to run my heater on full blast so it dosent overheat.so eventually i will make a custom shroud to cover more area of the radiator

definalty put the shroud back in. From what I've read, the shroud is pivital when it comes to direction of the air flow. However, even without a shroud, I don't think should have to blast the heat. Which makes me think that it is your t-stat. Take it out and leave it out. Drive the car normally (after resealing everything of course). If the car still overheats then you may have an air pocket in the cooling system or possibly the water pump going bad. On the other hand, if the car doesn't over heat with the t-stat in, then you know that is was faulty.

But also keep in mind what deviousKA said too.
