hey my fan is rubbing on my itake because my fan shrout got damaged when i bought the car wrecked so i want to make an electric fan setup. My a/c fan was damaged also so i can't use that. i was wondering what u guys are using for electric fans. I think i have some eclipse fans laying around some where. those might work??

you would have to adapt the housings for them, but yes the would fit. I almost tried that on my S13, but wired my a/c fan instead.

I am using a twin 14" flex-a-lite fan setup, cost me $90 at the local domestic performance shop.

I had it wired to a coolant temp sensor off a 1990 S13 plummed into the lower radiator hose but a wire broke on the sensor and I wasn't sure if I repaired it successfully so I have my fans on constant power now.

Soon I will pick up another temp sensor, they only cost like $10 at autozone and work great for wiring up an electric fan.

try altima electric fans...they cool the altima's ka24 so they should be good for ours...you can pick them up at a junkyard pretty cheap...(and they should fit our radiator perfectly too...i think its the same)

Alti's dont bolt in for the s14... The require a decent amount (well to me its decent to you it may be alot) of trimming of the shroud in various places to clear batt tray, condensor lines, frame rails, and also modding of the tabs to get them lined up and bolt on-able. I dunno about the s13 but when my girl comes home I could take some measurements... Im guessing itll be the same or close to the same amount of work though...

But I will say with one always on and one wired into the oem system it does a very nice job...

Who needs bolt holes? Just zip tie the fan to the radiator.

And remove the damned fan shroud, it just clutters up the engine bay. If you're worried about children sticking their hands in the fan then keep your hood shut. :pface

Ummm fan shrouds are good for a reason... Say you run a single 16" electric fan (I did at one point just pinned to the rad as well, notice I no longer do) pinned to the radiator. Now the first blow to colling comes because you only are effectively cooling 60% of the radiator. The second blow comes from the added force needed to pull the cfms through the rad at such a close proximity, this will reduce the effectiveness of any fan.

By shrouding a fan at least 2" away from the rad, the fan can pull the cfms much much easier this allows it to pull closer to its max cfm rating. This obviously is better, and will cool more effectively. Af6ter all isnt this what you want to accomplish... Second by having the shroud the air is drawn 100% accross the surface of the radiator also increasing its ability to cool.

I dont care if its aluminum, fiberglass, coper iron or cardboard, a shrouded fan will will be much more effective then an unshrouded fan. Even the dual altima fans are shrouded and are about 3/4" - 1" (or more gotta look hehe as I forgot) off of the rad, but in this case there are 2 that covers nearly 100% anyway so a shroud isnt needed as greatly.

If you remove the mech fan and shroud in place of a single fan I would strongly reccomend adding some sort of shroud for it as it just works better....

Oh and I learned this through watercooling my computer a few years back by the way.... Everyone always asked why I did such a thing and I said its a good learning experience.... HAHAHA and it was...

Check out my fiberglass shrouded water cooled case If shrouding wasnt worth it I wouldnt have spent the time to fab up this shroud outta fiberglass... Gained me a couple degrees C reduction in temps....

I get some images of the altis installed as well.... Edit: or hell we are rather local mabey we could meet up sometime....?

If you are dealing with a piece of crap tiny fan, like relocating the a/c fan alone to cool then maybe you will have to worry about airflow. Any decent electric fan setup will provide you with more than enough cfm to draw heat from the radiator.

I am running twin 14"ers, they cool like nobodys business!

you all have the setup to pull air from the outside correct?
