electric fan

has anyone changed there motor driven fan to an electric? If so how is it done. iam looking to change so the truck warms faster in cold weather. The truck took for ever to warm up in 20degree weather.

yep.... there's a few people on here who have... i don't have the time right now to search it for you, but if you look around you may find it yourself

Its a little difficult to complete as some fabrication is needed to complete it. I do not have any pics of mine as this part of the project is not completed as yet. Remove the fan from the clutch (you may have to change the pump if you want to delete the clutch as its part of the pump to a clutchless one). You will need to secure the belt pulley to the pump via bolts if possible or welding and tension properly. Fabricate a housing for the fan/s to secure to the radiator. The housing should be bolted to the frame of the radiator where the fan shroud goes. Wire in a thermo switch to switch on the fans when running temp is achieved. I added the thermo switch to the top tank on the radiator and used a relay for each fan.

thanks for the information iam not able to work on it just yet becouse of the temp and snow with no garage you realy cant do much and most of the work will have to be done on the weekends becouse it is a daily driver.

I'm lucky. Mine has been out since October and I'm still having trouble with the exhaust manifold, which I'm re-fabricating for myself. I use the madam's ride in the interim.
