Yes, your lucky, but I've had four engines and several set of injectors in my 1990. Never had an alternator fail however. I think some of the new electirc fans are rated for 50,000 hours with nylon reinforced blades.
Replacing your thermostats at first sign of temp fluctuation will yield more longevity benefit than a fan swop...cheaper too. Your injector failure + my lack thereof may be location (gas) based. Can't say the same for the engine.

It does once coolant temp gets above a certain temp (something like 200F its in your FSM).

Thanks, Wes Is that true for the 1990 as well?

Yeah, 90-93 Q actually had a seperate temp sensor for that whereas the 94 has a seperate control.

It all depends on which year Q [90-96] as to exactness however all generally engage the aux condenser fan when the radiator output temperature exceeds 194F this means a head coolant output of 200-210F.

The temperature drop across the radiator depends on rpm and ambient vs coolant vs ac heat gain from condenser?

Anyway it's bad foor the ecu to see 195-200F from coolant temp sensor as this begins the summer overheat ignition advance reduction!

Considering the amount of gas guzzler tax [$2100] that was added to each brand new Q's sale price don't you think that Nissan would have used electric fans if they could improve MPG even by 1 which would have saved $400 or 2 mpg which would have saved $800.

The 90-96 Q has a combined 18.7 mpg [used to calculate deficit below 22.5]

Getting ANY extra engine/injector/waterpump/hose reliability by installing an electric fan is pure speculation - but the adverse effect it has on alternator and battery reliability is an indisputable fact. Hanging an extra 20-40 amp full-time load on your electrical system WILL shorten the alternator and battery life expectancies.

A mechanical fan with a clutch is simpler than one or two electric fans, their assocated relay(s), thermostat, fuse/circuit breaker, wiring and connectors.
