Here is the situation: I rewired the electric fan to run from a switch. Bought a switch that lights up when it is on. Only used 2 of the switches connections so the switches light does not work. Thought everthing was fine and dandy, fan turned on and off fine. Woke up this morning to a dead battery. Had to go to work so I jumed car and unplugged the leads on the switch. After work, had a slow start, like battery drain again.
What i did was ran wire strait from red battery terminal to blue wire on fan, then black wire on fan to switch, then switch to ground.
Switch rated at 30 amps bought at Radio Shack. Three plugs named ground, load, and power. I know I need the ground plugged in and either load or power. Do I need to plug both in? In that case, what should the third be pluged into?
Or.
Did i just screw up the wiring? Like, say, put the switch between the red battery terminal and fan instead.
Or.
Should I wire one of the tons of automotive relays I have lying around. As in this diagram.
