whats up i installed my new radiator this afternoon. on my old radiator i had three fans; two pullers on a thermostat; and a pusher that ran all the time with the ign.; with the new radiator i can no longer fit either of my pullers on to the back because of the engines pulley's. so i ended up just removing one of them and rewiring the other to push then i stuck it on the front of the radiator next to the fan that runs all the time. as i have it setup now i have two pusher fans one is an xterra/frontier condensor fan (runs with the car) and the other is a 12 inch perma cool (on a thermostat) my question for you is if i should just eliminate the thermostat and just wire both fans too run all the time, the fan that is on the thermo cycles on and off after the car is off til it cools the radiator down and i feel like it is eventually gonna kill my battery. do you think i should leave the fan wired to the stat or hard wire it to the ignition like the other fan?

DO NOT WIRE IT TO BE ON ALL THE TIME. I dont know how well it is acually cooling but unless YOU know dont mess up your car. Get a water temp gauge, and wire it to a switch, that way you cant go wrong.

You dont want your engine running too cold.

i would run a t-stat especially if you live in an area where temp goes below 60-70 deg (or 15C). this is in my ka (the rb is in the mail). i took my t-stat our trying to figure out a cooling issue and ran my car for a couple of weeks without it and it litterally took me like 20-30 min to get my car to warm up to normal opperatiing temp. ive also got the fal 210 (dual 12" 2500cfm). as mentioned its all about being able to opperate in a optimal temp range.

ive got mine wired to run all the time and i got no problems. it does not add a delay in warming up the engine as no coolant is pushed until the t-stat opens.

getting an autometer (or other) water temp gauge would be a very good idea if you havent done already.

i dont think he's talking about removing the thermostat itself, but rather a thermostatic switch to trigger the fans. why wouldnt you want to keep the thermo switch if you already have it?

just put the switch behind an ign switch instead of hard wired off your battery. hard wiring the fans to ign switch is ghetto too. do you see any oem cars doing that?

the fan isnt hard wired to the batt its wired to a relay thats hooked to the ign. if it was hard wired it would never shut off it sucks to have to open your hood to unplug your rigged up fan (i know this from experience) i drove to orlando yesterday and it ran fine so im just gonna leave it alone

with my old rad on the factory temp gauge it would get up to tjust above the two little marks in the center; but it was constantly filling the boil over bottle till the lid popped off. when i drove it out to orlando (with the koyo) a couple days ago it was what i (im from fl) would consider chilly in the morning but the gauge never got above the dot above cold on the factory gauge and there was a normal amount of water in the boil over (less the 1 inch) and i did a couple of long 120-130 mph pulls. on the way home it was hotter out side i did the same few hard high speed pulls to see if it would get hot and fill the bottle but it never got above normal in the bottle and the factory gauge just barely got above the dot on the cold side. now im a lil worried about over cooling but not that much; my brother gave me a water temp gauge a while ago so im gonna install it today so i can better monitor the engine temp. anyone who says that a koyo radiator doesnt make a bigggg improvment is wrong.

What T-Stat are you using? Stock RB / VG30 or Nismo? And of couse, install that water temp gauge so you have hard data to look at and compare, as opposed to 'shooting from the hip' =P

i installed the gauge it went up to 190 and stayed (between 180 and 200) it seems to be alot better the car actually runs alot better with the bigger radiator ; i thinkn because the old rad was so thin it was putting alot of stress on the pump
