Do you still have the switch that went in your lower radiator hose? If not get one from Nissan--Has worked for years for me.

Oh really? Yea, that switch is in there. What do I do as far as hookin it up? I didnt really look at it, so I dont know how many wires it has. Do I need to wire in a relay?

Ok let me answer this fan question since two people already posted about it.

First of all Altima fans will work, the shroud just has to be trimmed a little.

Second of all pretty much any electric fan out there will work if you can make it fit over the radiator and have a effective shroud, remember that it has to be set up to pull instead of push.

Now when ever installing something like an electrical fan no matter how you having it engage you need to wire it up through a relay.

Now here is a little gizmo http://phase2motorsports.store....html

Thid was specifically made to work with the Nissan water temp sensors on the intake manifold. This gizmo is also great cause it has the relays built into it and it will control two fans.

I know if you search on here some one has done a write up on wiring up the fans and the dif together.

Hope this helps .

but what about the cheaper and more accessible stock alternative? Any comments on temp ranges and or installations?

There is cheaper alternatives. If for instance you have a Dual fan, you can hook one fan up to the stock ac plug and it will turn it on at 210c I believe, and also there is another option for number two fan. A lot of car performance shops sell a temp trigger sensor that goes in between the fins on your radiator and that will trigger the fan too depending on the temp sensor you get.

All of these are pretty cheap ways to go about.

Autozone has one of those sensors for $30, but I dont know if I really trust that.... Thats why I asked about a sensor that is actually in the coolant.

I like the coolant hose switch and yes I used a relay and a fuse--I made my own circuit--cost was 0 because they were all parts I had (except the fans) I live in phoenix AZ so this has worked in traffic on a 115 degree day with ac running--so unless your on the Sun it should be fine for you.

So the hose switch will turn the fan on at 210? What temp does your engine stay at?

One more thing, Your fan is completely useless between speeds of 25 to 30 mph. So you can have a trigger switch done too, where it goes on when below those speeds. My '05 Miata is done exactly like that from factory actually.

So if I use the factory switch, what temperature will my engine stay at? 210 seems a little high...

I just want to confirm that I should cut the wires on the switch and connect one side to an ignition power source and the other side to the relay. Is it possible just to cut the power wires for the aux fan and connect them straight to my new fan? Will this function the way I want it to?

Hmm...well it didnt work... so I wasted like 4 hours wiring it us and everything.... The temp gauge go to about 3/4 and I turned it off. I know the relay is hooked up right and I have power, so the sensor might be bad, or I hooked it up wrong or somethin. I'm tired of messin with it I'll just put the stupid clutch fan back in.

If you are using the wiring from the AC and the sensor from the AC, in that case you have to have the AC button on too, in order for it to kick in.

How exactly should I connect it to the temp sensor?

The way its connected now is, I cut the plug completely off the sensor and ran power to one side of the switch and the other side triggers the relay. For some reason, it doesnt work that way and Im not sure how else I would connect it?

Unless I take the plug off the stock electric fan and use it to power my aftermarket fan. Does anyone know how to hook this damn thing up?
