Okay well my AC fan died on me several months ago, but it didn't seem like it affected my ac performance at all so my gf graciously offered to give me the electric fan out of her 93 grand am.

This is a pretty big fan at 15" and I had to resort to some interesting tactics to get it installed lol *I won't be posting pics in the fear of being laughed off the board* However I just ran the connection wires for the ac fan to this one. There seems to be enough voltage to turn the fan effortlessly and this was simpler then trying to set up a thermostat system since the ac fan kicks on if the engine gets above a certain temp anyway (which is about the third temp notch on the gauge, not hot at all). The fan doesn't even kick on unless the car is just sitting idling, it stays off while driving, and even when it does come on it only stays on for a few seconds. As for the car, engine is much quieter *atleast I think so* There wasn't a noticeable gain in acceleration besides maybe a tenth of a second if that, but the acceleration and shifting is much smoother and more fluid then it was before.

Anyway, just felt like sharing :D F.Y.I. this setup is only temporary.

I am going to tap the same electric fan with dual 11" spal fans that I got off this one guy who had it runnign the same way without a clutch fan. he had a audio comeptition car and was a daily driver so it should be fine.. I just have to get my self to actually install the damn things.. they have been sitting in my garage for a good 3 moths or so... =/ i am just too lazy and afraid I might screw something up...

I want to set up some thermostatically-controlled electrics - A real benefit given the heat/traffic we have here!

Yeah I bet! Here in Tn there isn't that much gridlock and it never gots "extremely" hot, so I foresee no problems with this setup.

I'll post some pics as soon as I get the stupid digi cam to upload. I was suppose to post some pics of a 260z (which I now think is really a 280z, just with 260 badging) but the serial port isn't responding.

Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like you lucked out on that deal using a larger fan and all. I just wish it wouldn't cost me out the yinyang to put one on my 95 nissan truck.
