So, I'm putting in an electric fan. I was wondering. To you guys out there who have done this. Did you just unplug the a/c fan and toss it?

I was gonna just wire the new electric fan into the relay(ala 240sx.org install) and with the new fan there is no room for the stock a/c fan.

Also, if I do toss the stock a/c fan will the ecu throw a code?

Thanks again guys.

im assuming you have a dohc. how can the new fan interfere with the a/c fan. the a/c fan is in front of the radiator. the new fan should go on the back. i have a sohc motor and i still kept my a/c fan. i dont think it will throw a code if you remove it.

No, it was on the engine bay side of the radiator. I removed it and everything seems to be working well. Thanks :D

I'm trying to remove my clutch fan as well. This guy was telling me I could just use the A/C fan in the front and wire it into a relay. Can I do this?

Well, after having mine in for a few days, I can say that one 14" does the trick nicely.

To answer your question, yes you can use just the a/c fan, but I don't know how well it would cool the engine seeing as it's quite a bit smaller and doesn't seem to pull near as much airflow. On the other hand you can hard wire an aftermarket fan to that same relay and not have to worry about installing a switch to control the fan.

When it comes down to it, a good aftermarket temperature control is the best way to go.
