electric cooling fans

Car: 1995 240sx se with sr20det apexi headers apexi airflow converter, g-reddy front mount, blitz blow off valve, aftermarket radiator, electric cooling fans
staright pipe exhaust, 2 ways lsd

i just installed an electric cooling fan on my sr20det. when the fan is off i run 1300 rpms when i turn on the fan the rpms shoot down to 800-900 rpms and sounds like its running rich any suggestions

Sounds like cold start idle. . .

yeah, i have the same problem. when i turn mine on, it shoots from 950 to 600. also i noticed when i hit the brake when standing still, the idle will dip as well. maybe a bad ground? idk. if you find anything out please post.

How do you have your fans wired?.....Directly to the battery? Thru a switch?....Thru a switch and a relay? ...
I'd install a thermostatic switch to control the fans activation?....

I'd buy and install this bad boy to prevent all the issues you are having.... :werd:

yes a thermostatic switch is the best way. you can use the on off of sohc ka's that goes in the rad hose

I have a relay to a thermometer going through the fins of my radiator, its an autozone special, but it works fantastically. Its even got an adjustment screw to what temperature you want your fans to come on at.
