ur friend is retarded... your car can catch on fire with your set up, i see your already seeing signs of it. but anyways ALWAYS use a relay with your wiring, go to auto zone and ask for a relay or you can use one from a nissan, go to the junkyard and pull a relay under the hood from the fuse box by the battery, choose the black one. but i think they are all the same. should have 5 connections on the rear.
on top of the fuse it will have numbers. 3 going to 4, and 5 below it. & under 3: 1 going to 2.
now to installing..
use a fuse holder!! 20 amp is good.
1 goes to the battery (connected with the fuse)
2 goes to the fan
3 goes to 12v switch ( the switch must have a 12v connection in order to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so it has to have 3 connections, one 12v, one ground, and one signal that comes from the relay.
4 goes to ground.
5 is not used.
good luck. & once again dont listen to your buddy.
make sure you ground the wire correctly, sometimes it can over head and melt due to bad ground. but with the relay you wont have any worries.
once again go to autozone and get a relay from them, tell them what your doing and they might be able to help you with the wiring, usually no one knows too much about electrical but you never know. and if the wiring doesnt work upload a pic of the relay and ill help you out some more. peacee
