What temp does our electric pusher (assist) fan kick in at? Any idea what temp (relative to the non-numeric scale) on the dash I should be looking for? I haven't heard mine yet and I'm not sure it even works (sure I can test the fan itself, but what about the thermo-switch?).

My dash gauge has never gone past half-way mark, if that helps...

mine doesnt kick in untill themp hits halfway or a little past i found out mine didnt work by using two wire from the battery and jumping it to see and mine ended up being a relay was bad. regular driving my fan doesnt kick in at all i never hear it unless i do lots of stop and go driving is the only time i hear it kick in. so it not kicking in i wouldnt worry about it unless your temp goes past halfway and its not on then you should be worried. one way to test it is to block the flow of air past your radiator by putting towels in front of it to raise the temp and see if it works. thats a safer way to see instead of jumper wires.

That's a great idea! -- I'll try blocking the air flow (before I find out it doesn't work at the Wrong time!).

Thanks...

Per the manual, the fan should come on when coolant temp is 94C, vehicle speed is less than 39 MPH, and AC is turned on. Car will not overheat if the pusher fan is not working, but the AC will be useless in stop and go traffic.

That is good information. I figured out my fan worked by accident when getting out while the J was running with the AC on after a hot drive home.

Funny thing was I had become paranoid of getting out with the keys even in the ignition, let alone running, since the car had locked me out so many times! :)

Thanks to this forum I fixed that part by replacing the door lock timer with a later unit off of ebay (cheap). Still it took me awhile to even trust that the "new" timer had completely fixed the door lock -- so I think it was maybe 6 weeks or so before I found out the fan worked :chuckle:
