I've actually been wondering how long it would take for a 6 or 8 wheel electric car to come along. It's really a great design, since you get a low center of cravity, lots of contact patch, and less moving mass in a single area. It's been used before in indy cars (four front wheels, two back wheels) to keep things low while maintaining good grip.

The in-wheel electric motor design benefits even more from this. It is much simpler to connect wheels to individual motors than to an axle and drivetrain (though the rear-drive indy car had no drivetrain to connect with its four front tires). Also, the multiple smaller tires means each motor has less moving mass to turn, and therefore more of the engine's effort goes to acceleration.

This car is a very good idea. Too bad its ugly. And as interesting as I find electric supercars, you'll be hard pressed to pull me away from my snarling internal combustion engines.

I agree totally. I don't want to imagine a world without internal combustion engines. It just sounds so... un-fun.

Yep. And not only would it be a world without one of my favorite sounds, but can you imagine the mod-base for electric cars?

"Hey, man, I just got a new Apexi Armature for my car!"

"Sweet, dude! We'll have to race soon. I've got my aftermarket Stillen brushes!"

Yeah...

LOL

Thats some promising technology, but why do electric cars have to be so ugly??

Amen to that. I'll take my unfiltered, pollution emitting, dirty, race gas drinking, sports car. Internal combustion for life!

the reason most are so ugly is because they have to be aero dynamic, more so than a sports car cause they are carrying MUCH more weight. the body has to reflect all the crap that goes into making the systems.
