elecronic speedo, rb transmission

ok, ill reword the question. how do you make your electronic speedo work with the rb trans? is it just a matter of sticking the VSS in the rb transmission, and wiring straight to the cluster? or does the vss signal need to be conditioned?

To use the KA speedo, pull the speed sensor out of the KA trans and put it where the RB one was. If you are doing this with your J30 just try the same thing and hope it threads in. Might want to have someone clock you by riding beside them at the same speed, or possibly locate a KA sensor if your sensor has a different number of teeth.

the rb20 is the only rb that uses a cable driven spedo.

yes with the 240 swaps its a direct fit with the KA VSS, not sure on the J30 only way is to try it and find out.

FYI an auto sensor will not work with a 5 speed.

oh,ok. i was just concerned because from what ive seen, i thought all skylines use a cable speedo.

my course of action might be to use a z32 5 speed VSS.

im just trying to avoid having to make a new dash pod with autometer gauges, or run a speedo cable with mph skyline pod.

i did some searching, and the 240's can use a VSS instaed of the cable speedo, so it should be similar.
