Hi NicoClub members,

I have an electrical issue with my 89 sohc hatchback. When idling, if i press the brake pedal, the dash lights would dim slightly, and i would also hear the fuel pump change its tone (a bit noisy (Autozone Pump)) and i would get some hesistation (idle fluctuates) a bit and sometimes it would correct itself...If i let go of the brake , the lights would get a bit brighter. Also rear defogger does not work)

Also when i'm driving on the highway, at cruising speeds, i would get hesitation and some bogging, but would not feel it if i go full throttle. When driving local streets at around 2nd gear 1200 to 2200 rpms, sometimes i would have that some bog and jerk.

I have changed spark plugs, o2 sensor, plug wires, distrib & cap. Checked the TPS, changed the negative terminal cables (connecting batt to engine)

Please suggest any solutions/ideas to fix these issues similar to this one (of if you had similar experiences) Thank you all!

You may have an alternator issue. If the alternator is not charging properly you can have all sorts of driveability problems.

If its not an alternator issue..95% sure.it might be the fuel pump and or the fuel filter..

Had this issue with my 96 nissan maxima.
