So I was messing around on RockAuto.com and I noticed that they have Raybestos "Red Label" brake rotors for:

(1993 S13)

Non-ABS Rear: $8.59 eachNon-ABS Front: $9.80 each

That is CHEAP....that's outrageously cheap, and I happen to be planning to redo all my brakes anyway.

Aside from the rotor choice, I'll be going with a complete set of rebuilt calipers, Wearever (OEM-ish) pads, and likely some SS lines (because I may as well do them now).

This will be for daily driving use ONLY, no real "performance" situations. The car is an automatic and sees about 30 miles a day of driving in traffic.....that's about it.

Can I get away with the peanut-butter-and-jelly el-cheapo rotors? Generally I'm from the "buy the best and only cry once" school of thought, but in this case, where I'll never be pushing the car, I don't want to spend any more than I need to.

Honestly, if they only last a year or whatever, I'm cool with that. I'm sure I'll be putting bigger brakes altogether on the car in a year or so anyway.

for run of the mill stuff, I'd say they'd be fine. One thing to watch for though is rotor thickness. They may be soft and wear out quickly.

Wow.. even with my hookup at NAPA I still pay I think $15 for a good rotor.

Yeah, RockAuto's prices are out of control.

Cool, guess I'm going to order them then, so long as the thickness is comparable to other rotors I see. At least I know the brand, I know their "premium" rotors are pretty solid, supposedly.
