I have 18x9 rear & 18x8 wheels with 255/35 & 245/40 tires on my 96 Q45. I wanted to lower it a bit. Will I be able to use Eibach springs on my Q? I already purchased Tokico blue struts. Thanks. Mark

Thanks, cuz I ordered them already. Someone else had told me they would work, but I figured it's better to double check before taking the time to install them & find out they don't fit.

Obviously Eibachs and Tokicko blue were designed against oem 15" wheel/tire weights [unsprung weight] so heavier weights will wear the shocks a little faster.

But they have to be better than the worn out factory fronts I have now. They are so floaty. My rear struts must have been replaced already-they are tight. The Tokicos have to be much cheaper than factory struts, even if they do wear out faster.

Same struts just that the blues [vs blacks] are valved 20% stiffer, to match the springs better.

That's what I'm looking for. More stiffness. What is the price difference between the black & blues? Thanks for all the info. It's great to finally find a place that can help me with my Q.

That's what I like to hear. If only my Eibachs would come in. Have the Tokico blues & I just put on 4 new slotted/cross drilled rotors along with my new 18" wheels & tires. Can't wait for those Eibachs.

Mark, beautiful car. Check out mine - love the silver paint.

Welcome to NICO!

The ride change is phenomonal, from worn out factory struts, to the Tokiko Blues.

I might suggest getting new upper links, and tension rods, as well as adding a Front Strut Tower Brace (check out the eBay special we have been doing).

I kinda "backed into" that one. I bought one for my wife's I30t, and just for kicks, tried it on my Q. In 45 minutes, it was on the Q, and I had to buy another one for the wife's car. They run anywhere from $1 to $15 on eBay.

It drastically tightens the front end.

You already have the rear stabilizer bar, so this will make a nice addition.

If you haven't gotten stainess steel brake lines, they really help pedal feel, and for around $100, it is a worth-while investment. I flushed my brake system, and went with DOT4 fluid.

I don't know if it helped, since I don't do any autocross, but I know when I go to North Carolina, that my brakes are much better than original, and with a 10.5" tire patch, I can stop much better.

Thanks. Your car looks great. For now I'm done with putting things into my Q. I have a Z31 turbo that needs my attention so I can get back to racing it. I did springs, struts, drilled rotors, wheels, tires, & stereo upgrades on my Q. I did regular mantainance such as transmission mount/fluid/filter, belts, fluids, plugs, thermostat, etc... It only had 53,000 miles when I bought it 8 months ago. I love the car!

Your car looks great. The springs will set it off just right. I looked at Jeff's car too and that is one clean Q! I ordered Tein's for mine today. Too bad it's gonna take nearly 2 months for them to arrive.

What kind of stereo upgrade did you do?

Trust me, the $15 and hour of your time, will be well worth it, for that 2000 Maxima FSTB.:ylsuper It makes the steering feel like you took 2000# off the car!:ylsuper

The $110 I spent, on the SS brake lines, really firmed up the brake pedal. It took about 1 hour to flush the system and install the lines. The speed bleeders helped with the flush.

I put in a Sony head unit (CD/CDRW/MP3 player) with an adapter to keep my Bose speakers. I put a 10" sub in the trunk with an amp powering it. Great sound & even some bump.

Where do I get the Maxima front strut tower brace? Ebay? For what year Maxima? $15.00?!! Sounds too good (and cheap) to pass up. I will eventually put in the stainless brake lines, TT adj. tension rods & upper control arm links. But first I need to replace all the rear subframe bushings with urethane. One of the silicone ones is leaking.

Thanks for all the help/advice.

Mark, sounds like a great system.

Here is a thread, that has some pics in it, of my FSTB.

I have a good write-up, in Word format, with pictures that I can email you.

Thanks for the links & info. Seems like a pretty easy mod to the bar to get it to work.
