2008 Altima Sedan, 2.5 SL 72,000 miles.
I started to get a grinding bumping noise from the front end, went by the dealer on Tuesday and the tech heard the noise and said that it may be the strut bearings. I would have to set up an appointment to completly diagnose, that was today. Just got a call and the service advisor that said I have Eibach springs and that voids my extended warranty on my suspension. I put the springs on at about 10,000 miles without issues until now.

Any truth to the fact that the extended warranty on my suspension is void? WTF!

yes, it is. since the springs were the direct cause of your issue, your suspension warranty is void. any aftermarket part, if so proven by the dealer to be the cause of a malfunction, voids your warranty.
time for you to get coils, dude.

So lowering springs are the cause of the noise, which they didn't go any further to find the issue. I've got coils all around (Eibach). Are you talking about coil overs?

I just talked to Eibach, basically they said that their springs don't void warranty.

Dealer dosn't even know what the problem is, they just saw the springs and stopped, didn't finish the diagnosis. Eibach referred me to "SEMA Consumer Bill of Rights" information.

okay... they could also refer you to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. But if the springs caused increased wear on your struts (which they do) and the problem turns out to be your strut bearings, your SOL. If you're really that adamant about getting it fixed under warranty, you need to take legal action to force the dealership to diagnose the problem and provide proof that the eibach springs were the direct cause of the problem. This is likely going to be more expensive than buying coilovers, so just suck it up and get some coils.

BC Racing should have a set for the 2.5's.

Yeah man, that's A LOT of miles on Eibachs with stock shock/struts. Mine are already started to give me some bad issues and I'm only at 34,000 miles.

Really, so that little drop from the E springs could mess up the stock length shocks, I just didn't think that the shocks would compress to the point that they would be damaged. Is there a 1" shorter shock available, I don't want to do them in the middle of winter but come spring I'm on it. I appreciate your input!

i was originally going to get the prokit, but since ive had my car almost 4 years already i didnt wanna run into shock issues as soon as i put them on. so after looking around the site ive decided to save up for a decent coilover kit, might be sumthin to look into if you have to start replacing stock stuff when it fails. and stock stuff will eventually just fail again

Yeah, you're lucky you got 72k out of em. It's not just the drop, it's that they're more aggressive in handling and stiffer and such so it makes for a harder ride that leads to the eventual shock wear. And the only aftermarket shocks out are for the rear I believe. I'll be getting teins later this year.

yeah they dont void the warranty instantly, only if they directly caused the issue that you're having. My FX is still fully under warranty and I have a s*** ton of bolt ons...

:yesnod I still get my car serviced under warranty, and i have a fair amount of bolt-ons as well. then again, it's not like i couldn't swap the bolt-ons with my stock parts then take it to a different dealership.
