Hey guys today me and my two boys decided to install the eibach springs on my altima. We have experience before with suspension so we knew what we were doing and got it done pretty quick. Now the problem is when i go over a bump or something it seems like there is a clunking sound coming from the fronnt. The car rides around fine and everything. But what could it be creating this clunking sound when i go over a speedbump?

I've been suffering the same as of late. I'll be taking everything apart again once the weather warms up...If anyone else could chime in, it'd be appreciated!

mine made a clunking sound similar to what you are describing when I first installed mine. Just tighten the the top two strut bolts and you should be good to go.

EDIT* here is the best pic I had. It's the bolt right where that little green dot is. I don't have a pic w/o the STB but you shouldn't have a prob finding it lol especially if you already have suspension experience lol

That might actually be the problem, cause I think my buddy only really tightened the ones around it cause we were in sort of a hurry cause he had to go to work. I'll check it out thanksalot man . Well I'm off to go do a photoshoot with my boys so I'll post the pics of thecar with it's new wheels and drop

after mine were installed about a yr and half ago, they made slight clunking sounds when going over speedbumps or hitting corners and high speeds but the guys that installed them said that was normal b/c they had to settled somewhat.

it turned out to be true, after about 1 or 2 weeks the clunking stopped and theres been no noise since.

I do have to creep, CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP going into and out of almost every driveway now to avoid scraping my stillen lip spoiler.

100% it's the strut bolts you need to tighten them.

There should be around 8-9 threads exposed over the nut.

If you cannot get it to tighten then you need to take it down compress the front springs and tighten the strut bolt.

buuut if that doesnt solve the prob make sure the springs have settled into to the boot up top!

I have this noise too, but theres another noise when stopped or rolling out of the driveway, when i turn the wheel theres a clunking or sort of a spring noise, its a weird sound, like something tensioning up. Ideas?

Does it sound like it is coming from the interior? I have ripped apart my entire interior and can not find this noise. I suppose it could be on the outside.

When I first installed my springs over a year ago now, i had this same problem. Now, I really cannot be sure as to what i did to fix it, but I am going to theorize what was going on:

First, I put the car back up on the jack stands, and loosened and re tightened the 3 bolts that hold the assembly to the frame. I think that one or more of these was not torqued correctly/enough and that when i turned the wheel of the car while at, say, parking lot speeds I would hear a pop sound. I think that the whole assembly would shift back and forth when this happened. I also think that a reason for this now would be because the mount/screws now had some dirt/dust to let them roll around easier when mounting. Make sure you torque them down correctly using a good torque wrench and not your highly calibrated arm.

Second, i put the car back under its own weight and screwed in the master nut another half turn. This will ensure that the whole assembly underneath is pre-stressed enough and the spring wont spin around, move under driving loading/decompressing.

Since i did both at the same time I cannot really scientifically know which fixed my problem (sorry for my engineering background spilling through) .

Try this, and if you have to take the whole assembly off the front of the car, then make sure you clean the upper mount, and the frame on both sides before so that it has the least chance of floating around and making a good solid connection with the frame once tightened.

That would be interesting if this is the source of the sound and also an easy enough fix for something that has been driving me nuts for far too long. Can anyone else confirm this is the problem? Sounds like I have the same "Clunking" noise at parking lot speeds going over bumps.
