I had the eibach springs put on my car about two months ago and everything has been good most of the time. Now though for the last 3 weeks I seem to sometimes feel and hear a thunk when I go over some bumps in the road (not over speed bumps). It is a muffled thunk sound. There are no handling issues with this. I did try pushing down on the right front fender to see if I could duplicate the sound and got nothing. However when I pulled up on the fender and then pushed down, I could hear and feel a thunk which seemed to be in the upper right fender well area. I am not mechanically inclined and was looking for any ideas before I take it in to be looked at. Thanks in advance. By the way it is an 08 3.5 SE with 11,5k miles and still has the 17 wheels on the car. The eibachs were the only mod.

sounds like the main strut bolt may have came loose, when I first installed my springs I heard a thunk after i hit a few small bumps, I tightened that nut and the sound went away. hope that helps

have the same problem but I'm worried about tightening the strut bolt because the last time i tightened something that was loose it snapped. One of the bolts on the racingline STB

I have decided to take into my dealers service dept to have them check it out and verify the issue.

It won't be covered under warranty but I rather have it checked out and I trust them pretty well as they have always provided great service.

I am not taking it back to the shop that did the springs as there is really no way to prove that it was due to there workmanship and again I trust the dealer service dept more.

If it is just the strut bolt, then simple fix. Hope so.

Well the dealership says the strut needs to be replaced. They are ordering one at no charge to me (which lowering the car should not have had hurt the strut after just 8 weeks, but maybe brought out the fault already in the strut).
