Hi All,

I just recently installed Eibach Pro Kit springs on my 08 SE-R. I love the way it looks and tucks the OEM wheels nicely. Car looks rightly proportioned rather than too tall. However, I am getting a weird noise from the left front upper strut mount area. Mechanic had it on the hoist again - checked all bolts, springs seated properly on rubber bushings, spring right way up. Noise only audible when I go over speed bumps or something similar, when the suspension gets compressed from the neutral position. It's hard to describe, not clunking more like a mix between a more than acceptable thump like the top of the suspension hitting metal instead of rubber thump and metal on metal grinding. I can feel a bit of the grinding as well. I may have to take the strut apart. I don't think it's a bad damper, car only has 3,500km. Any help or further insight is greatly appreciated.

alright well i'll throw something out there.... it might be your struts or dampers as you call it. Maybe not because of your "metal" sound but who knows.

What might be happening with your stock struts, is that you might be exceeding the limits of the strut, as in your lowing springs are lowing the car too much, and your struts bottom out when you hit a large bump because of the decreased gap in your strut housing. So say when you are on your oem springs, you have say 4 inches of travel in the strut, but after putting your lowing springs on and it lowers the car 2 inches, you only have 2inches of travel in the strut, and your struts might not be stiff enough to compensate for the less travel.

That was really hard to explain, if you dont understand, ask and i'll try to explain it better. It could be part of the problem, maybe not but I cant think of anything else right now.

Thanks, that may be the problem. However the sound is audible as the suspension in travelling through compression and I know i'm not bottoming out the dampers. But yeah probably reaching or going over the limit slightly. The card DID ride high even on the SER suspension. The Eibach Pro Kit states a 1.5 inch drop. But you are correct it looks more like a 2 inch drop to me also on their website it indicates that it will work with the OEM dampers. I'll have to live with it until it gets worse. Pot holes are a bigger problem this winter compared to past winters.
