I've noticed a slight clunking feeling now when I turn left or right at slow speeds. Could this be a byproduct of the lower? Has anyone else run into this? I'm going to call the shop tomorrow. It's not a really bad thing, but it wasn't there pre-lower.

Should the alignment fix this?

sorry if this has been covered before, but would these springs eventually mess up the shock absorbers?

This is not a byproduct of anything. Sounds like something is loose. You shouldn't be experiencing any noise.

Usually it's just that something wasn't tightened enough. Check the strut tower bolt, you'll need a 6mm allen and an adjustable wrench. The bolt is the one in the center when you open the hood and look at the top of the struts.

@loufoooo

They are designed to work with stock struts so while it may eventually, over a relatively long time cause them to wear out it should not be a dramatic issue that causes rapid wear. You should be able to get several years out of the setup. Of course there are a lot of factors involved here and nothing's 100%.

The guy at the shop is going to put it on the lift Friday and check to see if everything seated right. He thinks the spring may not have seated all the way in the groove? I'll check the strut tower bolts when I get home too. It's sort of like a clicking sound when you turn the wheel either way.

Check the forums, someone else posted this problem and they corrected it by tightening something.

Btw, I got my springs done for $240 here in PA. That was the lowest quote I got ($60 a wheel).

I posted the same problem 2 weeks ago. Before the hassle of taking it back, get a 6mm allen wrench and 18mm open wrench.. or any open wrench and tighten the middle struct bolt as tight as human strength can. It should solve the noise issue. If not, look to see that the spring you got have plastice cover at the bottom section.. or was it top... forgot.. but it is there on our springs to resolve some noise issue during R&D.

As for the install price.. i think its pretty cheap.. i called around several places here in GA and they all quoted me like $75 per wheel.. or $75/hour... so I took the time to install it myself.

Yeah I can't do it myself, I have A.D.D. and I'm accident prone. I'd get half way done and get side tracked with another thing, then come back and accidentally break something cause i was rushing.

I got it so cheap because we're firemen in the same borough. I'm sure any Joe that walked up would pay hourly

Regardless, I'm off to Home Depot to get an 18mm angled wrench. If it fixes it I'm clear, if not I guess I'll take it back to the guy Friday and let him fiddle with it. Clear plastic eh, I'll ask about that too. I hope they didn't take it off.

I tried to tighten it. It's on there damn good. It's still clicking too. I'm just going to let the guy at the shop check it out. It's free anyway since it wasn't making the noise before they got it.

Also, I got the mustache back. Paint looks identical. It's curing overnight and I'll get it on the car tomorrow. $32.00 total and I got a can of touch up with it.

Update. Shop said everything is seated correctly. So I went out and bought a craftsman offset 18mm box wrench.

If I tighten this #(*@# bolt any more I'll break my arm and I'm a strong mother(*((er

Still clicking. This is seriously annoying.

I am having the same issues after my eibach install. The sound seems to be only coming from the drivers side. At normal driving speed it's not an issue but when driving very slow like turning into a parking space and backing up is when I notice the clunking sound. I also took back the car to the shop who installed the springs and they checked and rechecked everything and said everything seems to be tight. This is really bothering me because it was not there before the drop. The other day I was determined to find the problem my self so I went out and popped the hood and removed the tire. The first thing I noticed were the two lower strut bolts were reversed, the nuts are facing the back of the car as before the nuts were facing towards the front of the car. Does this really matter?........ I am not sure but I would still like to see them the way they were before. Look at this thread and you will see what I am talking about. http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/320208

I also had my wife turn the wheel very slowly and sure enough I hear the clunk coming from the upper spring strut area when the wheel gets fully turned then she turns the wheel the other way and just before the last turn there was the clunk sound?.............. maybe the spring is not fully seated or the strut tower is loose.

I would like to hear from anyone else who has or had this problem and what you did to solve it or do you just live with it.

I even took it to the dealer the other day to have them look it over and to have an alignment. Three hours later I get a call from the service dept saying they could not align my wheels because of the drop, something about the car being to low to get on the machine. Then he says the reason for the clunking sound is that the springs have been cut to short and are moving around. I said those are eibach spring designed and made for the coupe, I then just turned and walked away. This guy is fool of BS and to tell you the truth I believe they did not want to touch the car because it had been modified.

I've had this issue... and both times it was the spring not sitting correctly and "slipping"... I've corrected it by twisting the spring with my hands so it sits right...

This was 100% the problem. The spring was about 5 inches away from it's seating stop on the bottom of the strut. I jacked the car up and turned it by hand went for a ride and heard no noise. At least I will know how to remedy it if the spring slipping ends up being a recurrent thing.

Thanks. Now I can enjoy my sexy lil coupe without cringing every time I turn the wheel. Tint on monday!

I had my springs done at California Wheels (winchester) for $250.00 ............ this was the lowest price I could find in the south bay.

Js08coupe, All you did was jack up the car and turned the spring with your hands ?............. I did not have time today but I will give it a try first thing tomorrow. Did the spring turn that easy? but most important....... should they move at all?

A big thanks to theoctopussi
