was just running fine this morning now i turn the key and nothing... i hear a slight tick but only once , i doubt the battery is dead but maybe.

Well, if your hearing the tick then its either the starter itself or the battery, or it could even be that big mother of a ground going to the intake manifold. I'm guessing battery though

my guess would be starter, possibly alternator or battery.Im not too sure if the alternator would cause that problem, but you never know... I guess.

got lucky i got down to look at clutch switch to see if it was mess or with the ped was hitting it cuz it wasnt even trying to start,, and i pushed it in with my finger and turned key and bam started right up:ylsuper

The only way its the alternator is if its not charging the battery, and hence your battery is dead At least, thats what someone told me when I was trying to troubleshoot an almost identical problem.

Wait, is it the brake light on the right side of the cluster? If so then that strangely enough is like a warning light for having low voltage in the system. Also, it seems that a bad ground will trigger that as well, my battery was charged up just fine but I had left the ground to the intake manifold from the battery box off and I got that light, and the same symptoms you have. I connected the ground and presto, works great. I'm still guessing its the battery though.
